“Do not plan for ventures before finishing what’s at hand.”
— Euripides
It’s over.
I can’t believe I can finally say those two words, but it’s true…we survived the Rickshaw Run! Citlalli and I rolled across the finish line last Thursday night at precisely 6.35pm–24th out of 72 teams! Not bad, considering we were one of only four all-girl teams.
We spent the weekend in Jaisalmer, a lovely fort city in the desert–only 40 or so kilometers from the Pakistani border. There was a manic victory parade around town (can’t say the locals were exactly thrilled at 50-odd rickshaws clogging up their back alleys), a cricket match against a team from the Indian Air Force, a finish party to top all finish parties, and lots of storytelling and comparing scars between teams.
When the chaos of the weekend finally settled down yesterday and I boarded a train to Delhi with my new friend Nambi, neither of us could actually believe the run is over. I’m now about to head up to Nepal for the week, so this is just a quick note to say there’s more where this came from! I’ve got about 1,300 or so pics to sort through and I absolutely can’t wait to share them with you.
Huge thanks again to The Adventurists and Travel Bloggers Unite for such an amazing journey! Can’t wait to risk my life again on the next adventure…
Congrats on finishing!!!
Can’t wait to read up on your adventure. Enjoy Nepal too! 🙂
Thanks, Nicole! It’s hard to believe we actually made it through 🙂 I can’t wait to write up more about the trip–a little overwhelmed about where to start though, haha! When do you head back to Europe? Hope all is well with you! x
