“The one good thing about not seeing you is that I can write you letters.”
– Svetlana Alliluyeva
It’s that time again.
Office desk cleared out, flat scrubbed down and deposit returned, dissertation bound and turned in…so many endings and goodbyes can only mean one thing: change is a comin’. Last week was quite the week of ticking things off the list, and after a weekend of recovering with lots of rest and yummy food (thank you, Noni!), I think I can safely say I am officially excited for India.
Yes, it’s time to get back on the road.
The twists and turns of the last few weeks have finally levelled out and the moments of panic and what-the-heck-am-I-doing’s are growing less and less frequent…but then again, maybe we’ve just run out of time and have done all we can to prepare.
Whatever it may be, I think the quirky nature of the trip has people wanting to make sure….well, wanting to perhaps make sure that Citlalli and I actually make it to Jaisalmer. I thought I might outline a few different ways to stay in touch here and follow along–just to make it simple for everyone!
The Adventurists’ website
The Adventurists have been hard at work developing a great system for teams to use and stay in touch with. By some magical linking of phones and websites and Internet fairy dust, teams can send one text and not only plot their progress along a map, but also leave a quick update on the website. We’ve put together our own team website on the Adventurists’ site that you can check:
http://rickshawrun11a.theadventurists.com/rare-travels-rickshaw-style
We’ll be able to text updates into the site that will then update on Twitter and Facebook automatically…sometimes, I really love technology.
The official Twitter hashtag for the Rickshaw Run is #rr…all of our tweets and updates will link to it!
After the run
Once the Rickshaw Run ends, I’ll switch from updating the Adventurists’ site back to here full-time, posting and Tweeting as much as I can–as well as writing for a few other sites along the way.
Thanks so much for all the well-wishes…I can’t wait to share this journey with you!
Handy tips Rardon – don’t want you to go off our radar do we? 🙂 Super psyched for you for your Indian adventures, stay dry, don’t let the bugs bite, apply sun cream, and, most important of all, nail that rickshaw run will ya?
Congrats with completing that dissertation, once again! x
Thanks, my friend 🙂 Well, enough people had started to ask, “But how do we follow along?” that I figured it might be good to post on it! Of course this is all assuming we get the whole phone-Twitter-website thing hooked up 🙂 I will definitely do my best to nail it, and can’t wait to share it with all of you. Have a great first time at Kingston and see you in Jan! x
I’d definitely suggest having a word with Chris about connectivity in India – send him a FB message or something and he’ll get back to you in no time. Thanks for the well wishes, catch up with you in Jan indeed x
Gosh.. you’re really in it now, Candace! And I’ve finally been able to subscribe via email. Sweet!
