Writing Portfolio

“Of course I wanted to know. I was a writer.
I wanted to know everything.”

— Gregory David Roberts

In 2008, I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia with a BA in English with distinction. In 2012, I finished my Masters in Travel Writing with distinction from London’s Kingston University, where I was also awarded the Faber & Faber Creative Writing MA Prize.

My stories and artwork have appeared both in print and online, and my tale of being invited to join a Berber picnic in Morocco, “Beneath the Almond Tree,” has received a bronze Solas Award for Best Travel Writing in the Kindness of Strangers category, as well as First Prize in the 2012 Book Passage Travel Writers & Photographers Conference writing competition.

In 2017, I also received a bronze Lowell Thomas Award for best travel blog, awarded by the Society of American Travel Writers.

I am now mainly focused on book projects and Sleep Stories for the popular meditation app Calm, but I’ve written for a variety of publications as a freelance travel writer, including:
